Gilbert & Sullivan Tie the Knot, including Trial by Jury – Saturday 22nd June 2013
Romance is in the Greenwich air this June as The Centenary Company presents ‘Gilbert and Sullivan Tie the Knot’ – lessons in love from the Victorian masters of musicals, including a full performance of their courtroom comedy ‘Trial by Jury’.
From overcoming shyness and mastering the etiquette of wooing, to handling rejection and coping with a jealous partner, we’ll take you on a whirlwind romantic trip through songs from 13 G&S operettas on the themes of love and matrimony.
Then it’s off to court to discover what used to happen when a relationship broke down before marriage – the bride-to-be would sue her ex-fiancé for damages! Add a randy Judge, a wily barrister and a besotted jury, and the stage is set for a hilarious satire on the British legal system.
Directed by Jerry Pinel, with Elinor Corp as Music Director, this is the same creative team responsible for the Company’s inventive stagings of Gilbert and Sullivan operas at Greenwich Theatre.
